Cian - International Recruitment Department Manager: Teaching young learners can be very challenging in its own right. The hardest part however, is getting the students to enjoy learning and enjoy coming to Giraffe every week. The key to my teaching style is to have a positive environment that allows students to open up and feel comfortable throughout the learning process. A positive experience early on can unlock unlimited potential. When students are so young, their mind is still being shaped by the world around so it is crucial for children to reach their full potential.

I wanted to be a teacher because I’m a child at heart and I believe it’s important to set a good foundation for young learners. I love working with children because everyday is different. Daniel - Junior Trainer, JYC campus: I’d been a teacher before joining Giraffe but I’d never taught children. Naturally, the change was daunting but it wasn’t long after I got started that the training and help I received helped ease my worries and had me feeling comfortable and confident a lot sooner than I had expected. It was the best kind of surprise to see how quickly I could adapt and learn something new. Teaching has been a great job, and especially so with young learners. There aren’t too many lines of work where creativity is so encouraged and rewarded, or where the worst thing that can happen is a room full of happy, smiling kids.
